
Craig McAuliffe – Principal / Director

Registered Architect
Craig is the Principal of McAuliffe Stevens Registered Architects (MSRA) managing the Dunedin office. He is a NZ Registered Architect and has over 30 years of professional architectural experience working on a wide variety of significant multi-level projects in the UK, Australia and NZ up to 100,000 sqm, with values of over $400M. As a practice Principal of MSRA he is currently working on local projects of up to $65M, where MSRA are providing a traditional full service as the lead Architect with our small, highly skilled team.
Craig has a passion for the built environment, high quality architecture and enjoys the relationships that coexist within the wider design team. He believes in a rigorous, professional approach to all aspects of the services he delivers through his extensive experience, diligence, communication, design and thorough documentation.
He is looking forward to his continued career in architecture, offering his extensive experience, leadership skills and enthusiasm to significant medical projects in Dunedin and the wider Otago area. Craig calls Dunedin home, having been borne and raised in the City and coming home in 2005 after nearly a decade working in architecture abroad.

Preston Stevens – Consultant

Preston Stevens brings extensive experience across all facets of professional architectural practice and is widely respected for delivering high-quality design and technical documentation.
His architectural career began in 1977, and he became a Registered Architect in 1988. Preston is currently a Consultant with McAuliffe Stevens Limited—a firm he co-founded in 2013—where he served as Principal and Director until August 2025. The practice operates offices in both Queenstown and Dunedin, with Preston primarily based in the Queenstown office.
Prior to founding McAuliffe Stevens, Preston was Principal and Director of 2 Architecture Studio Limited in Queenstown for nine years. Before that, he spent eight years as a Senior Project Architect at Harrison Gillies in Dunedin and later served as a Practice Director for Archimedia Ltd, overseeing its Queenstown office for a decade.
Preston has contributed significantly to urban design and architectural governance. He is a former Chair and long-serving member (10 years) of the Queenstown Lakes District Council Urban Design Panel. He has also acted as a consultant architect for the Butel Park Homeowners’ Association in Arrowtown and was a member of the Design Review Panel for the Bendemeer residential subdivision near Arrowtown. In addition, Preston has held leadership roles within the New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA), including Chair of the Southern Branch and representative on the NZIA National Council.

Victoria Rondel – Associate / Senior Technician

Victoria Rondel has over 14 years’ experience working in the New Zealand Architectural industry. Victoria joined the McAuliffe Stevens team in November of 2016 and is constantly involved in multiple projects of varying scales and complexity.
Victoria is involved in all aspects of project delivery including; liaising with other members of the wider professional design team, territorial authorities, contractors and clients. Victoria is extremely disciplined and focused with a strong work ethic and eye for detail. Victoria has an interest in design for access and mobility for people with disabilities and has had gained extensive specialist experience in this area.

Craig Trompetter – Architect
Registered Architect
Craig Trompetter joined the MSRA team in 2022 and has been a valuable design and documentation architect ever since. Craig works on all facets of the projects from Concept to Site Observation.
Libby Evans – Accounts Administrator
Libby has been MSRA’s accounts administrator for over 10 years and keeps the vital billing and invoice process running smoothly.
